Position Manager Software Will Allow Applicants to Apply Online

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…

January 17, 2012, Norwalk, CT - Constellation Health Services, has partnered with HealthcareSource, a national company specializing in helping healthcare providers recruit and retain talent, in implementing an applicant tracking software called Position Manager®.

Constellation Health Services, a health care provider offering Medicare-certified home care, private duty, geriatric care management and school-based therapy services with offices in Norwalk and Orange, CT was able to leverage their current resources to partner with a larger specialty organization like HealthcareSource. Jeanne Kerrisk, Director of Human Resources stated, “We looked at several vendors and the Position Manager product had all of the components we were looking for, at an affordable price.”

Constellation Health Services was voted a top workplace by Hearst Media Group in 2011 and has since seen an increased applicant pool. Home Health Aides, which make up approximately 60% of their 300-person work force, are known for high turnover. Kerrisk continued, “Position Manager will allow us to keep up with our company growth and the challenges of filling new positions quickly with quality people.” The nature of home care also forces Constellation to abide by strict regulatory standards when hiring employees who will be in contact with patients or clients in the field and the online documentation will simplify this process.

Position Manager will streamline the application and on-boarding process across all of Constellation’s divisions. Applicants can now visit www.constellationhs.com to search for positions and apply online. Hiring managers and supervisors will be able to review and approve candidates for certain positions, and their applicant file can be saved for future positions. Much of the volume of paperwork and manual documentation has now been offset by Position Manager.

For more information on Constellation Health Services, please call 800.860.6656 or email info@constellationhs.com.

Many seniors who have decided to “age in place” have experienced lifestyle modifications, including giving up driving. This loss of independence can be both disheartening and depressing. A certified are assistant can be a valuable transportation resource that cannot be replaced by a bus or taxi service. Riding a bus requires a level of mobility and balance that make it a difficult mode of transportation for some seniors. And taxi service can become expensive. Certified care assistants can transport and accompany seniors to their appointments or social events. Personalized transportation services tailored to the specific schedules of seniors help them avoid feeling isolated support socialization with close friends and relatives.

For seniors who live at home, there are many benefits to owning a pet. Pets can combat loneliness and provide affection and unconditional love. They can help ease the loss of a loved one. Dogs in particular can even provide a sense of security when home alone. Unfortunately, it can become difficult for some seniors to properly care for their pets. Certified care assistants can provide the appropriate assistance for pets to remain in the home. They can feed and groom the animal, provide transportation to the vet when necessary and clean up after pets. This allows pets and their senior owners to stay together, which in turn helps maintain the soothing, calming effect of their loving presence.

One invaluable service private duty home care can provide is light housekeeping for aging seniors that are experiencing decreased mobility. Many times, seniors are no longer able to bend, lift, and perform other movements required for cleaning. Certified care assistants, companions and homemakers can put fresh linens on the beds, dust, vacuum, and mop floors. Private duty agency staff are trained to think always about safety – whether that be dangerous throw rugs or stairs, water temperature while bathing or storage of hazardous cleaning materials. Clean, tidy homes are a significant factor for continued success of aging in place.

Many seniors take multiple medications, and those who live alone may not always follow the correct schedule for taking their medications. Some seniors may become confused and can risk missing pills or take more than prescribed. To be effective, prescription medications must be taken at the correct time in the appropriate quantity.

Certified Care Assistants can provide a valuable service by giving their senior clients medication reminders. Although Certified Care Assistants cannot administer the medications, simple daily prompts make a big difference. Many hospital and nursing home admissions and readmissions are a result of seniors failing to maintain appropriate medication schedules. Discuss medication reminder options with Constellation Health Services today.

For those seniors who have chosen to “age in place,” there may be a need for assistance with various daily tasks. Essentially, those tasks fall into one of two main categories. One category encompasses activities of daily living (ADL). ADLs are those activities that refer to personal care such as showering, mouth care, hair care and toileting. A second category, called instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), refers to tasks associated with maintaining a household. Those tasks include changing linens, doing laundry, grocery shopping and dusting. If seniors require assistance with any of these or other related tasks, a Certified Care Assistant can provide the necessary support. Certified Care Assistants make it possible for many seniors to feel secure and independent, in their own home.

Caring for elderly loved ones is a serious and time-consuming commitment, often preventing the primary caregiver from spending quality time with their other family members or tending to their own personal health and well-being. Certified Care Assistants can provide a much-needed break for these family caregivers. Often called “respite” care, relief is provided by assisting with a wide variety of senior clients’ daily living activities. This relief – or respite – is scheduled on a regular periodic basis such as one morning a week, Sunday afternoons or one weekend each month. Certified Care Assistants develop a bond with their senior clients that instills comfort and security and offer peace of mind to the primary caregiver while they are away from home. This type of respite care can help alleviate some of the pressure placed on those loved ones who are responsible for at-home seniors.

Constellation is dedicated to providing individualized in‑home care that will help maintain the highest possible level of independent living. We provide a wide range of certified home care and private duty services for any level of need, at all points of life.

In the search for resources and finding the appropriate support for a senior loved one, a geriatric care manager (GCM) is a professional to whom many people are turning. GCMs typically have extensive training in social work, nursing or counseling. An experienced and compassionate GCM is adept at assessing the unique needs and challenges of their senior clients. After a careful review of a “case”, including financial, medical, and legal elements, a GCM can recommend and facilitate plans to accommodate the individual’s needs. A GCM works with the client, their family and physicians to identify short and long term goals to avoid crises in the future. If you or a loved one could benefit from planning ahead, consult with a geriatric care manager.
